In the past few years OSA's training activities, initially exclusively in-house, have been extended beyond the cooperative's members. In 2002 the Cooperative became an accredited provider of ECM (Continuing Education in Medicine) courses. Members and others are currently offered a range of different courses worth 18 to 28 credits. The programme is intended primarily for nurses and physiotherapists.

Cooperativa OSA has always been strongly committed to training and education programmes specifically formulated for the social assistance and healthcare environments. An area was recently set up for organising training programmes.

The Training Area's Mission is promotion and teaching of the principles inspiring the Cooperative members' daily work:

  • central importance of patients and their families;
  • ongoing improvement of the quality of service;
  • promotion of assistance in the home and local area;
  • application of innovative technologies and methods in the clinical, assistance and rehabilitation environment;
  • working methods based on the creation of a team of professionals and working members who share goals and aims.

With a rich, diversified range of training events open to members and external participants, Cooperativa OSA offers people valuable opportunities to acquire, reinforce and update their skills.

OSA's strong points, which make it unique in relation to other educational institutes, are:

  • years of experience in healthcare and social assistance;
  • the wealth and variety of the content proposed;
  • the skills of staff and instructors who have been teaching and offering technical and professional services for years;
  • an efficient organisation set up specifically to meet learners' needs.

OSA offers a variety of training initiatives to meet all requirements:

  • Professional development and specialisation programmes in healthcare and social issues;
  • Professional qualification courses for acquisition of the skills required in the world of work today;
  • Special initiatives custom-tailored to meet the specific needs of workers in healthcare and social services.

OSA is accredited by the Ministry of Health as an organiser and provider of educational events in the context of the Continuing Education in Medicine Programme and has been offering courses for healthcare workers since 2002.

In 2005 OSA obtained UNI EN ISO 9001:2000 quality certification for the planning and providing of training programmes in social services and healthcare.

Since 2006 it has been listed as an accredited training institute by the Region of Lazio. Accreditation recognises suitability to propose and implement orientation and professional development initiatives in compliance with the goals of regional programming.
